The Ghosts of Kayakoy

]]>Kayakoy is an abandoned Greek Village or what the locals call a "Ghost Town" not far from Oludeniz, Turkey. In a sense this series is an escape for me, having experienced several months of unemployment and the impending death of family members. On many days I felt like a ghost myself (there are some "self portraits included here"). I used my trusted Nikon D70 with an infrared filter which allowed enough blur in broad daylight to track the ghosts, apparitions and what was hiding in the shadows. I feel it gives a true sense of the abandonment, post-war decay and rubble that our lives sometimes reflect.

]]>In the half-light between nightmares and dreams...the Khmer have emerged. I think somehow we are mistaken to think the jungle has overtaken the great temples of Angkor. It would seem they have been held together by nature itself, only to be resurrected as testimony to the resiliency of the people themselves.

20% of all proceeds of images sold in this gallery and of my book "Cambodia Awakening" will go do the Golden Leaf Education Foundation to further the education of children in Cambodia. Suggest a print option of color, the Black and White option removes all color from these images.
